For many years the timetable of the global textile industry has been determined by the seasonal trade show—which consists of a short, fast-moving period during which buyers, mills and brands come together to examine fabrics, discuss contracts and set the foundation for future collections.
Amid the growing volatility of supply chains, the pressure on margins and the strict environmental regulations, the traditional practice of holding such an event twice a year is no longer enough by itself.
In response to this change, the European trade fair organizer Munich Fabric Start has announced a strategic partnership with the Future Fashion Assembly and is launching the “365 Days Munich Fabric Start” initiative to give the international textile community continuous intelligence, resources and connection all year round.
As part of this new strategy, the upcoming webinar “What Comes Next for European Fashion Supply?” will take place on Oct. 28. The digital event will convene global brands, retailers, manufacturers and industry experts in technology and sourcing. Designed as an exclusive preview, it serves as a bridge to the Stage program at Munich Fabric Start, Jan. 20–22, 2027.
The key aspect of this launch is the fact that, although face-to-face interaction will always be essential, commercial decisions are now made every day. “The trade fair isn’t the issue,” Florian Klinder, managing director of Munich Fabric Start , told Sourcing Journal.
