The three 2011 sneakers include odes to the New York Knicks and Central Park.
Leading up to its 15th anniversary celebration, Kith worked with New Balance to release their first original sneaker model over the summer. Dubbed the 2011 as a nod to the year Kith was founded, the sneaker is quickly making a return with three colorways deeply rooted in New York City.
The Kith x New Balance 2011 “Monuments” capsule offers a trio of distinct treatments commemorating different elements of the brand and boutique’s home base. Although the source materials are officially unnamed, it’s clear the “Park” edition is tied to Central Park, “Banner” to the New York Knicks and “Garden” to the New York Botanical Garden.
Dressed in a combo of pigskin suede and nubuck in marroon, yellow and cream, the “Park” sneaker revisits a Ronnie Fieg on the 530 from 2014. Not only do the colors unite the two sneakers, but also a quilted vamp and collar.
The “Banner” 2011 is just the latest of Kith’s many sneakers featuring the colors of the Knicks and sees a silver mesh base overlayed with blue pigskin suede and more silver coming in both suede and synthetic. Orange is then reserved for the “N” logo, upper eyelet and inset heel mark.
Rounding out the assortment is the “Garden” treatment featuring pops of green, lilac, yellow and fuchsia from a grey and cream base — with the full package encompassing mesh and pigskin suede.
All three of the sneakrs come in a special box with an illustrated map that adds even more local monuments, as well as insole bearing the same graphic.
