The company was the best-performing division of Tailored Brands last year and will more than double its fleet in 10 years.
The more-traditional banner within the Tailored Brands portfolio has opened a store in the Atlanta suburb of Peachtree City, Ga., sporting a lighter, more modern aesthetic.
“It’s a really exciting moment for us because we have been able to reimagine what the store looks like and how we show up for our customer who really cares about the Jos. A. Bank brand,” said Karla Gray, chief operating officer of Tailored Brands. “The store does a really nice job nodding to the heritage of Jos. A. Bank and the care that our customers have about quality, craftsmanship and style. It provides a really amazing and easy way for them to shop.”
Jos. A. Bank traces its roots to 1905 when tailor Charles Bank and his grandson Joseph Albert Bank opened in Baltimore. The company was acquired by Men’s Wearhouse, the predecessor company to Tailored Brands, in 2014 for $1.8 billion.
Today Jos. A. Bank operates 182 stores in the U.S. and plans call for more than doubling that number within 10 years, Gray said. “Tailored Brands has been in the process of opening more stores, but we had limited ourselves up until this point to new Men’s Wearhouse. But as we were further contemplating our growth, we recognized that this is an amazing time for us to reignite the Jos. A. Bank brand.”
Gray said it was the top-performing banner within Tailored Brands last year with a comparable-store sales increase of nearly 6 percent.
