He will serve on the sustainability initiative's steering committee alongside Inditex chief executive officer Óscar García Maceiras and Fashion Pact cofounder Paul Polman.
PARIS — Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel SAS as well as president of the brand’s fashion, has been named co-chair of The Fashion Pact, the CEO-led climate and biodiversity initiative for fashion.
He will serve alongside Inditex chief executive officer Óscar García Maceiras and Fashion Pact cofounder Paul Polman on the sustainability platform’s steering committee, the brand said on Tuesday. Pavlovsky’s appointment was effective Oct. 13.
Chanel was among the founding signatories of The Fashion Pact, announced in 2019 by Kering chairman François-Henri Pinault and French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of a Group of Seven meeting in France.
Aligned with the Paris Agreement, The Fashion Pact ensures signatories set and maintain science-based carbon emissions reduction targets to thwart global temperature rise. It has more than 50 signatories today, representing upward of 150 brands including J.Crew, Burberry, Ralph Lauren and H&M Group.
“Since its creation, The Fashion Pact has demonstrated the power of collective action across our industry. As it enters a new phase, the ambition is to build on this momentum and focus increasingly on concrete action and tangible, measurable impact,” Chanel said in a statement.
In his role as president of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode , French fashion’s governing body, Pavlovsky has helped its members navigate European Union rules regulating the textile and apparel sector through stringent new circular economy and sustainability mandates, and represented their interests on the global stage.
