Endeavour Group has reported solid sales growth in its retail business, which management said outperformed the overall liquor market.
The group’s retail sales grew 3 per cent to $2.58 billion in the first quarter ended, marking the fourth consecutive quarter of growth. The uplift was mainly driven by transaction growth at Dan Murphyʼs.
According to the group, July saw very strong performance, while consumer spending in the following months was more moderate.
“In a challenging macro-economic environment, our retail business continued to outpace the overall liquor market,” said MD and CEO Jayne Hrdlicka.
“We reinvested in our best-in-market everyday low pricing in Dan Murphy’s, improved the value on offer in BWS and ensured that customers will always find exceptional value.
“Nobody beats Dan Murphy’s on price, and if you are looking for convenience with a twist at great value, nobody delivers better or faster than BWS,” Hrdlicka continued.
Total group sales increased 2.8 per cent in Q1, including a 1.9 per cent improvement in the hotels segment.
“Looking ahead, we expect customers to continue to manage their spending carefully and prioritise value for money in their purchasing behaviour. As we approach the end-of-year holiday season, we have clear plans in place across the group to ensure our range, value-driven offers and quality of service,” she added.
