Blue Yonder has launched an AI-native order management product for retailers and distributors as part of its Cognitive Solutions portfolio.
The software is designed to connect each stage of an order, from the initial delivery promise through fulfilment, customer service and returns. It links commerce, planning and execution systems around the order so businesses can adjust sourcing, allocation and service decisions as conditions change.
The launch reflects growing demand from retailers and wholesale distributors for tighter control over inventory visibility and fulfilment costs, particularly when orders are spread across stores, distribution centres, suppliers and goods in transit. Order management systems have become more central as companies try to reduce cancellations, protect margins and improve delivery accuracy.
The new system acts as a coordination layer between inventory, fulfilment and service functions, giving operators a view of an order across the life cycle of both the item and the customer order while allowing teams to make changes at scale.
At the centre of the product are AI-based Fulfilment and Customer Service Agents, which identify at-risk orders, present relevant data in a single view and explain the trade-offs behind possible actions. Staff can then make decisions within business rules and permissions set by the customer.
Gurdip Singh, Chief Product Officer at Blue Yonder, said the company views order management as a supply chain-wide process rather than a standalone commerce tool.
"Every order touches almost every part of the supply chain. Planning, inventory, fulfillment, transportation, service and returns all decide whether a promise gets kept," said Gurdip Singh, Chief Product Officer at Blue Yonder.
