Aminé’s New Balance 992 ‘Outdoor School’ Is the Perfect Fall Sneaker

Aminé is using his latest New Balance collaboration to tell the story of the program that made him fall in love with the outdoors.

The Aminé x New Balance 992 “Outdoor School” channels the Oregon program of the same name that’s been taking kids into nature for field science since 1957. An earthy mix of browns carries through a classic mix of suede and mesh on the upper, and patent leather is thrown in with a hickory hue. Collab-specific applications bring a Club Banana mark on the tongue, Amine’s signature on the heel and the official Outdoor School logo on an insole with a camouflage print.

A “wood cookie” name tag will come with each pair along with additional keychains, and the full assortment tackle-box inspired packaging. Within that box also comes a sheet printed with a hand-written explanation from Aminé of what Outdoor School meant to his childhood.

“Growing up everyone knew, when you got to 6th grade you’d get to leave school for a week to go to one of their many campsites to learn about soil, water, plants, and animals,” Aminé wrote. “They took your flip phone away and any electronic devices so that you could fully imerse [sic] yourself in the outdoors (very Oregonian).
