In a bid to hold onto the carefree spirit of summer, Lorenzo Serafini’s collection for Alberta Ferretti was an ode to color, which he admitted was a quite novel element for him, enhanced by the lightness and fluidity of the fabrics.

On his mood board stood 1920 images of Léon Bakst and George Balanchine, conveying the idea of freedom of movement, reflected by the slipdresses with fringe and fluid pants embellished with feathers from the knees down.

Serafini mixed and matched floral prints on balloon pants, obi-belts, and kimono jackets as models wearing flats wove their way through the salons of the brand’s storied headquarters with a nonchalant attitude reminiscent of easy walks on the beach. Pants and tops with ikat prints were consistent with the mood and were additional pops of color.

The designer was passed the baton by the namesake founder, and Serafini has mastered her eveningwear expertise, as the show closed with beautiful and feather-light boudoir-inspired dresses. Serafini dubbed the collection “A beautiful escape,” and before the show said designing it helped him skirt the darker thoughts in a challenging global scenario. And so it was.
