The Havstjerne offshore CO2 storage project and EcoLog Terminal Amsterdam have signed a collaboration agreement to establish an integrated cross-border CO2 transport and permanent sequestration service for European industrial emitters.
The partnership links EcoLog’s dual-purpose receiving terminal, onshore logistics, and specialized marine transport fleet in Amsterdam directly with Havstjerne’s offshore storage and injection license on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The joint initiative provides a scalable, end-to-end maritime midstream solution designed to aggregate industrial emissions across Northern Europe for permanent subsea geological storage.
The Havstjerne offshore carbon storage project and terminal operator EcoLog have executed a collaboration agreement to offer European industrial emitters an integrated cross-border carbon capture, transport, and permanent storage solution.
Under the agreement, emissions collected at the dual-purpose EcoLog Terminal in Amsterdam will be transported via specialized CO2 carriers to the Havstjerne offshore storage site, located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The partnership aims to bridge the midstream gap for hard-to-abate industrial plants across Northern Europe that lack direct access to pipeline infrastructure, providing a flexible maritime logistics corridor for sequestering captured volumes.
The joint infrastructure framework combines EcoLog’s terminal handling, onshore collection logistics, and liquid CO2 shipping capabilities with Havstjerne’s subsea injection and reservoir operations.
By establishing a open-access shipping route between the Port of Amsterdam and Norwegian offshore storage licenses, the partners aim to scale cross-border sequestration capacity and lower per-ton transport costs for European industrial emitters facing rising EU ETS compliance costs.
