Gold Standard Opens Recruitment For New Technical Review Panel

Gold Standard has begun recruiting experts worldwide for a new technical oversight structure designed to broaden specialist input and streamline decisions on its climate and sustainable development standards.

The Geneva-based standards organization said its board had approved the changes following a review of its technical governance. The new structure is intended to preserve the independence and rigor of its Gold Standard for the Global Goals framework while bringing in a wider range of sectoral and geographic expertise.

The Technical Review Panel will provide independent oversight and approve standards and guidance under authority delegated by the board. Thematic Working Groups will examine technical issues related to individual activities and methodologies before making recommendations to the panel.

Gold Standard plans to introduce the structure gradually. The initial panel will include some current Technical Advisory Committee members, with additional experts joining over the next several years to retain institutional knowledge. Members of existing methodology working groups may also move into the new groups.

The current committee will continue advising on Paris Agreement Alignment matters until the end of 2026.

Gold Standard is seeking specialists in three broad areas: energy and efficiency; sustainable natural-resource management, including agriculture, forestry and marine activities; and community services such as clean cooking, safe water and off-grid energy.

The organization will also consider applicants’ geographic and demographic backgrounds, aiming to balance stakeholder perspectives.

Yannick Glamarec, president of the Gold Standard Foundation and chair of its board, said the changes would expand the range of expertise informing decisions while protecting the independence underpinning market confidence.
