Formula 1 gets Dolby Atmos support on Apple TV in the U.S. starting today

Apple TV subscribers in the US can now watch Formula 1 live in Dolby Atmos, starting with this weekend’s United States Grand Prix. Here’s the schedule.

Earlier this month, Apple and Dolby Laboratories announced that Formula 1 coverage on Apple TV would gain Dolby Atmos support starting with the United States Grand Prix weekend on October 23.

And while the first practice wrapped up a few hours ago, Apple TV subscribers can still watch today’s second practice, plus tomorrow’s practice and qualifying sessions, and Sunday’s race.

Here’s Apple on what to expect from the first-ever Formula 1 race to be broadcast in Dolby Atmos:

Dolby Atmos surrounds fans with the sounds of race weekend, from team radio and commentary to roaring engines, on-track battles, and pit-lane intensity. Paired with Dolby Vision’s rich colors and lifelike clarity, the combination delivers exceptional sound and spectacular visuals that put fans at the heart of the action.

To celebrate the United States Grand Prix, Apple will host a live screening of Sunday’s race at its Domain NORTHSIDE store in Austin, Texas.

Apple also recently expanded its Detailed City Experience in Apple Maps to Austin and added a detailed map of the Circuit of The Americas with turn numbers, grandstands, 3D landmarks, and other information to help fans navigate the venue.
