Uniswap (UNI) launches VolatilePair Hook for ETH/USDC on mainnet

Uniswap (UNI) Labs has launched VolatilePair Hook on Ethereum mainnet for ETH/USDC, using dynamic fees that adjust with market moves.

Uniswap (UNI) Labs said on 14 October 2026 that VolatilePair Hook is now live on Ethereum mainnet, beginning with the ETH/USDC pool. The new Uniswap v4 hook is designed to adjust fees as prices move, with the stated aim of helping liquidity providers retain more of the value they create in volatile markets.

In its launch post, Uniswap Labs said volatile pairs on the protocol handled more than $500 billion in volume this year. The company contrasted the new hook with static-fee pools, arguing that a fixed fee can leave liquidity providers exposed when the pool price lags fast moves on other markets. Under VolatilePair Hook, recent price changes are used to set separate fees for buying and selling, and those fees are recalculated on every swap, according to the announcement dated 14 October 2026.

Uniswap Labs said the mechanism is intended to keep value in the pool while maintaining a competitive spread. When the pool price rises, buying ETH becomes more expensive and selling becomes cheaper; when the price falls, the fee relationship reverses. The company also said trades that push the price back after a large move pay a temporary fee. However, the launch material does not provide independently measured performance data for the new hook, nor does it disclose the exact fee formula, numeric parameters or the duration of any temporary fee.

The launch follows StablePair Hook, which Uniswap Labs introduced in September 2026 for stable pairs.
