Ethereum postponed the Hoodi Glamsterdam testnet upgrade from Oct. 26 to review EIP-8037 interactions with mainnet smart contracts.
Ethereum developers have postponed the planned Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet, removing the October 26 activation and leaving no replacement date in place, according to an Oct. 22, 2026 update from the Ethereum blog.
The update says core developers decided at ACDE #248 to delay the Hoodi fork so they could investigate interactions between EIP-8037 and mainnet smart contracts. The change removes the scheduled Amsterdam execution-layer activation and Gloas consensus-layer activation, along with the gas-limit schedule that would have increased Hoodi's gas limit to 200 million at the same epoch, the post said.
The blog said the postponement rolls back configuration for a future upgrade but does not revert Hoodi's chain history. It also said the October 26 activation at 17:42:48 UTC, epoch 132,352, is no longer scheduled and that a replacement activation epoch or timestamp has not been set.
For node and validator operators, the Ethereum blog advised checking both execution and consensus layer clients for instructions that reflect the postponed activation before October 26. It warned that software or custom network configurations still pointing to the old fork time need to be updated to match the revised Hoodi configuration. The post also said operators should follow their client teams' release notes rather than treating earlier release tables as confirmation that a version already includes the postponement.
The announcement listed new Hoodi client releases as they are confirmed, including consensus-layer versions such as Grandine, Lighthouse, Lodestar, Nimbus, Prysm and Teku, and execution-layer releases including Besu, Ethrex, Erigon, go-ethereum, Nethermind and Reth.
