Zoho has launched a point-of-sale (POS) platform for restaurants in India, with Kolkata-based sweet shop Asha Sweets becoming its first customer. The product is being offered free of charge to restaurants with annual billing of up to Rs 12 lakh, as part of Zoho’s push to bring smaller food businesses onto digital platforms.
In a post on X, Zoho co-founder Sridhar Vembu said Asha Sweets began using Zoho POS for Restaurants during the festive rush. Zoho’s team visited the outlet to observe how the platform was being used during one of its busiest periods.
"The first customer for any new product is special. When that customer is a sweet shop, it is even more special," Vembu said, announcing the launch at Zoholics India.
Zoho POS for Restaurants is a cloud-based platform that brings billing, order management, menu management, kitchen operations and inventory tracking under one system. It is designed for quick-service restaurants, cafes, bakeries, cloud kitchens, casual dining establishments and businesses operating multiple outlets.
The platform consolidates orders from dine-in, takeaway and food delivery channels such as Swiggy and Zomato through a single interface. It also supports QR code-based digital menus, table management and kitchen order tickets (KOTs), which help restaurants track orders and their preparation.
The software supports offline billing, allowing restaurants to continue processing transactions during internet disruptions, with data synchronised once connectivity is restored. It is compatible with Windows and Android devices and integrates with Zoho Books for accounting. Payment integrations include Zoho Payments, Paytm, Pine Labs, and PhonePe.
