Seattle startup OneCourt brings tactile tablets for blind and low-vision fans to NHL games

Seattle startup OneCourt is bringing its haptic devices for blind and low-vision sports fans to hockey, with the NHL and Ticketmaster making the tablets available free at the league’s marquee events this season and at all home games for four teams.

The device turns real-time game data into vibrations that users follow with their fingertips. For hockey, OneCourt draws on the NHL’s EDGE puck and player tracking data.

The tablets debuted at the Heritage Classic on Oct. 25, and the Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings are the first clubs to offer them at every home game.

“Our community has been asking us for hockey since day one, and launching it with Ticketmaster and the NHL is a milestone for OneCourt,” CEO Jerred Mace said in a news release.

The hockey launch builds on OneCourt’s work in other leagues, starting with the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers. Since 2025, Ticketmaster has offered the tablets at every home game for nine NBA teams, and it backed an NFL pilot during the 2025 season with four clubs, including the Seattle Seahawks, along with Super Bowl LX.

Mace started OneCourt as a University of Washington student studying industrial and product design. His co-founders are three fellow UW grads: COO Antyush Bollini, CTO Andrew Buckingham and CIO Nick Durand.

Time named OneCourt’s tablet to its Best Inventions of 2026 list last month, in the accessibility category. It was one of several Seattle-area innovations on the list.
