Wyze Solar Cam has a 2K camera and needs just an hour of sunlight to keep recording

Wyze is launching a new Solar Cam that has a camera that matches the best Google Nest has to offer, while needing just an hour of sunlight to avoid needing to manually recharge.

Wyze has a camera for basically every need, and its latest is one that works outdoors with potentially limitless battery life. The Wyze Solar Cam bundles a 2K camera with a 1.77W solar panel that Wyze says needs just an hour of direct sunlight to keep charged.

The camera houses a 5,200 mAh battery to ensure it can run in the case of crummy weather or having its solar panel blocked, but in direct sunlight, the panel doesn’t need much to maintain the battery. That’s nothing super new – Wyze itself launched a Solar Cam Pan with the same promise last year, and plenty of other brands have done the same. You can even add a solar panel to a Nest Cam if you really want to.

The benefit of this latest Wyze Solar Cam comes partially in the resolution, with a 2304 x 1296 2K camera that features 130-degree field of view and color night vision. It also has a 100 lumen spotlight built-in and optional local microSD card recording.

Wyze Solar Cam is available today for $69.98, with the camera also available without the solar panel for $10 less.

This is Wyze’s second announcement of the week following a new weight scale, with one more teased for Thursday as a part of “Wyze Week.”
