Zinedine Zidane takes charge of Les Bleus for the first time in İzmit.

French soccer legend Zinedine Zidane begins his tenure as Les Bleus’ head coach on Friday with a tricky first test in the UEFA Nations League away to Turkey.

Zidane has big boots to fill, succeeding his former teammate Didier Deschamps, who consistently led the French to the latter stages of major tournaments throughout his 14 years in charge, notably winning the World Cup in 2018.

Zidane’s first job will be to lift his players after the disappointment of losing in the semifinal to Spain in this summer’s World Cup — a tournament they had looked well placed to win after making a superb start to the competition. Turkey, meanwhile, is looking to make amends after falling well short of expectations at the World Cup, crashing out early in the group stage.

Turkey hosts France at the Kocaeli Stadium in İzmit on Friday, Sept. 25. Kickoff is at 9:45 p.m. TRT local time in Turkey, which is 7:45 p.m. BST in the UK. It’s a 2:45 p.m. ET or 11:45 a.m. PT kickoff in the US and Canada and a 4:45 a.m. AEST start on Saturday in Australia.

Today’s game is on Fubo in the US, while Vix will also be covering the match with Spanish commentary.
