If your dishwasher has a rust problem, this may save you from replacing the whole thing.
Amazon Prime Day is a good time to make big-ticket purchases, but I also like to use it to grab kitchen and household goods I’ve been needing. Sales can often be more substantial than for tech items, and that’s the case with Rokitta’s Rust Guard, a metal rod you toss in your dishwasher to absorb rust and keep it off your silverware. Normally $20 at full price, you can get it for 30% off ($6 off) by clipping the on-page coupon, bringing it down to just $14.
Because the company is so new, it’s not eligible for a Prime Day badge, but reps told me this is part of its Prime Day sale and it’ll be active from Oct. 4 to Oct. 9.
I have a rust problem in my old Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher. It was installed by the previous owner, and the dishwasher rack’s finish has broken down to the point that there’s rusted metal exposed in several spots. The rust is mostly on the top rack of my dishwasher, so anytime I run it, I get ugly rust spots all over my freshly cleaned cutlery in the silverware basket at the bottom.
At first, I thought it was my own silverware rusting and that I’d been lied to about them being stainless steel, but as the rust problem has worsened over time, I realized it was my own dishwasher causing the issue and the only way to get rid of it was to handwash my silverware again after running a cycle, defeating the purpose of the dishwasher or buying a whole new one.
