The Next ‘Marvel Rivals’ Event Makes You Feel Like You’re in ‘Avengers: Endgame’

The Avengers: Endgame nostalgia isn’t just at the theaters, it’s also coming to Marvel Rivals.

As part of its monthslong “Path to Doomsday” saga, the hero shooter is introducing a new PvE event mimicking the film’s biggest moment. Within the ruins of Avengers Compound, 50 players will go up against Thanos and his army.

If there’s any other objective beyond “kill the bad guys,” this trailer isn’t saying. This event looks so committed that whichever player deals the final blow, it still ends with Thanos getting dusted after Stark takes the gauntlet and snaps his fingers.

While this isn’t the best trailer, it’s easy to see how this could be fun. Avengers Endgame: Encore clearly showed there’s still love for that movie, and Marvel Rivals should obviously capitalize on that. If, in 2019, you were someone who thought the Portals scene was incomplete because the Netflix Defenders weren’t there, now you get your wish. (Give or take an assist from Jeff the Shark, Gorr, and Luna Snow.)

On the other hand, the event will also remind MCU heads who has yet to join the game. Endgame may not have been about characters like Captain Marvel or Sam Wilson, but you’re likely to feel their absence—or Thanos’ kids, Gamora and Nebula—given how hard the event is leaning on nostalgia for a big cinematic moment.

In any case, this Avengers: Endgame event will come to Marvel Rivals on October 24.
