The Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (2026) brings some subtle but welcome updates for the company’s color e-reader. Like the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, this model comes with 32GB of storage and a slimmer design with an aluminum back. It’s not a major departure from its predecessor, but it feels more like a premium device, with a price to match.
The main reason you’d want this Kindle is its color display. If you read a lot of comics, books with pictures, or just want to see book covers in color, this e-reader delivers. Though the resolution drops to 150ppi in color and the display isn’t as bright as a black-and-white Kindle, having a color display balances that loss.
Most of what I said in my Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2026) review applies here, as the main difference between the two devices is that one has a color display while the other doesn’t. Unfortunately, one of the biggest negatives I had with the Paperwhite is more pronounced here: the steeper asking price. At $319, it’s certainly a harder recommendation.
But if you’re willing to pay for this high-end color Kindle, the Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (2026) won’t disappoint. Find out why in my full review!
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition offers meaningful upgrades, including a more vivid display, a lighter build, and a sturdy aluminum chassis.
The display on the new Kindle Colorsoft is roughly the same as the previous model, except Amazon used a new reverse-stack display construction to make the screen-to-bezel transition more seamless.
