‘The Invite’ Is Coming to HBO Max This October, Along With ‘War,’ ‘The Pet Cemetery Murders’ and More

HBO takes a lot of the credit for the rise of prestige TV. Shows such as The Sopranos, The Wire, Sex and the City and Game of Thrones were appointment viewing, and that tradition lives on with newer series such as Industry, Euphoria and more. Its streaming service, HBO Max, is also the home of tons of great movies, live sports and excellent documentaries.

This October, several hit movies are making their way to the platform, including the comedy The Invite, starring Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde, Penelope Cruz and Edward Norton, and The Housemaid, the thriller co-starring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney.

As for new shows arriving on the platform, on Oct. 1 the British legal drama War, which stars Dominic West and Sienna Miller as a wealthy London couple whose divorce becomes one of the messiest, most public legal fights the English court system has ever seen, will be out. The Spanish series Rage also returns for Season 2 this month, and a new true crime documentary, The Pet Cemetery Murders: A Ghost Story, is on its way, too.

Here’s a peek at some of the biggest titles coming to HBO Max in October.

The new legal drama War is about the lives of London’s most powerful lawyers at two prestigious firms, Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne. Season 1 follows the explosive divorce of a wealthy tech entrepreneur, Morgan Henderson (Dominic West) and international film star Carla Duval (Sienna Miller). The couple is split under the rival law firms, both of which will stop at nothing to secure a win.
