The First ‘Slayground’ Trailer Teases Death as a Treat

After helping catapult Aaron Pierre into stardom with Rebel Ridge, writer-director Jeremy Saulnier has a new movie in A24’s Slayground.

In Slayground‘s first trailer, a convict named Michael (Cory Michael Smith) is being made to remember Halloween 2024. Whatever happened that night at the titular haunted attraction where he worked ended in multiple deaths, Michael on the run, and a SWAT team getting involved. Did he do it, or did he wind up taking the fall for the real killer? That appears to be what he and some other locals will be finding out.

Originally, Slayground was meant to come out this fall, but A24 opted to push it back a few months. (Some of you who saw Resident Evil in theaters might’ve even gotten a trailer for it.) Whether the studio wanted to give other movies the spotlight or put some distance between this and Onslaught—which is also about masked killers who rack up a decent body count when all’s said and done—it might end up the perfect movie to help start 2027’s horror wave, provided the weather agrees with wherever you live.

Also starring Chase Sui Wonders, Young Mazino, and Stephen Root, look for Slayground to hit theaters on January 29, 2027.
