The Creator of ‘Crystal Lake’ Already Has Season 2 Ideas in Mind

Crystal Lake just arrived this week, and fans are still deciding whether they love or loathe its take on Friday the 13th and the stamp it affixes to Jason Voorhees lore. (We had a great time with it; all the gruesome gore helped, as did Linda Cardellini’s fierce performance as Pam Voorhees.) Show creator Brad Caleb Kane, who came aboard after the show initially got off to a bumpy start, is so enthusiastic about the material that he already has some ideas in mind for a second season.

To be clear, the show doesn’t end with a cliffhanger that suggests more is coming; its final scenes set things up perfectly for the events we already know will transpire in the first Friday the 13th movie. It works as a standalone. But there’s certainly room for more exploration, either at this point along the Camp Crystal Lake timeline or even elsewhere in the story.

Kane has previously mentioned he’d be interested in learning more about Tommy Jarvis, a franchise favorite who first tangled with Jason in the fourth film, The Final Chapter, and then returned in A New Beginning and Jason Lives.

In a new interview with Deadline, Kane kept his season two story hints closer to the characters who actually appear in season one of Crystal Lake.

“I do have ideas for season two in mind,” he told the trade. “Obviously, it’s not just Pam’s story, it’s Crystal Lake, so you have all of the peripheral characters who are interesting to me.
