Thank Goodness, Parker Posey Is Returning to Horror

We will follow Parker Posey just about anywhere on screens big and small, but we especially love to see her in horror. Her campy turn in Scream 3 is a legendary performance in the series, and she also plays a deliciously unhinged villain in Blade: Trinity. She also popped up in the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead as a bitchy boss caught in a time loop at the start of a zombie outbreak. We have no information on what character she’ll be playing in Jacob Chase‘s Sleepover, but we don’t care. We’re in no matter what.

Variety got the scoop on Posey’s casting, which will see her star in Chase’s follow-up to Insidious: Out of the Further, a standout entry in that franchise. Chase will direct, and he co-wrote the script with Bryce McGuire, who wrote Night Swim, affectionally known across the internet as “Pooltergeist.” Sleepover is based on a short story by McGuire, and while we don’t know the plot, we can make some guesses based on that title alone.

Will Posey play the sinister antagonist? The concerned mom hosting the slumber party (who is secretly also the sinister antagonist)? The next-door neighbor who realizes there’s a sleepover gone very wrong happening on her block? The driver trying to make one last food delivery before some kind of late-night boogeyman gets in her way? Her iconic character from Josie and the Pussycats back for revenge? (Unlikely… but we can dream.)
