Startup news and updates: daily roundup (November 4, 2026)

From Canva job cuts affecting over 1,200 employees to EloElo Group raising $80 million, YourStory brings you today’s headlines with the latest developments across sectors.

Canva is undertaking a major workforce restructuring affecting 1,271 employees, or 22% of its workforce, as it reorganises its business to adapt to rapid technological change.

The changes include redundancies, role changes and relocation requests, although the company has not disclosed how many employees will leave.

Chief executive officer Melanie Perkins said the restructuring followed the company’s first slowdown in growth in a decade and reflected the need to rethink how it operates and organises its teams.

EloElo Group, a consumer AI and entertainment company that operates micro-drama platform Story TV, has raised $80 million in a Series C round of funding led by Hornbill Capital and NBCUniversal.

This funding round also saw participation from MIT Investment Co. and existing investors Play Ventures, Kalaari Capital, Waterbridge Ventures, Griffin Gaming Partners and others.

Peppermint Robotics, which makes autonomous cleaning robots, has raised Rs 100 crore (about $10.5 million) in a pre-Series B round led by pi Ventures and Crane Venture Partners. Asiana Fund also participated in the round.

The round involved fresh capital and secondary share transactions. The money arrives on the back of rapid growth by Peppermint.

The Pune- and Austin-based startup said it doubled its revenue last year and grew nearly sixfold between FY24 and FY26. It last raised Rs 34 crore ($4 million) in a Series A round in April 2025. Peppermint has a presence in nine countries, with the US being its biggest market.
