Salesforce’s M&A spree continues with a reported $375M deal for defense tech startup Rune

Salesforce has agreed to acquire Rune Technologies, a startup that builds AI software to help the U.S. military predict supply needs and manage logistics from the field, for $375 million in cash and stock, Resilience Media reported.

The acquisition underscores Salesforce’s push into defense tech through Missionforce, its business unit serving national security and defense agencies. Since Missionforce launched last year, its business has grown 80% year over year, driven in part by a new 10-year, $5.6 billion contract with the U.S. Army, the company said in a blog post. By integrating Rune’s frontline logistics data, Missionforce will extend beyond back-office administrative planning to support battlefield operations.

Since its founding in 2024, Rune has raised a total of $30 million from investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, and IQT, a CIA-backed nonprofit venture firm formerly known as In-Q-Tel. The startup was last valued at $127 million when it raised a Series A led by Human Capital last year, according to PitchBook.

Salesforce has been on an acquisition spree this year. In addition to Rune, the CRM giant agreed to buy AI agent platform Fin (formerly Intercom) for $3.6 billion, bought Qualified for $1.2 billion, and signed an agreement to buy Listen Labs after the startup walked away from a $125 million Series C term sheet at a $1.5 billion valuation, as TechCrunch reported.
