Beleagured Red Devils boss Michael Carrick goes in search of a much-needed win in west London.
Saturday’s early English Premier League game features two teams in desperate need of a win. Chelsea looks to avoid a third straight defeat against a Man United team attempting to regroup from its worst start to the season in three decades.
The hosts come into this clash after a week to forget. Having crashed to their first home defeat of the season against London rivals Tottenham, Xabi Alonso’s Blues were then knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Liverpool in midweek following a tense penalty shootout.
If Alonso is feeling the pressure, his opposite number in the dugout will be feeling it even more. Michael Carrick appeared to be waving farewell to the Man United fans at full time after a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Bournemouth at Old Trafford last Saturday. The former Red Devils midfielder has, however, been handed an apparent reprieve with Bruno Fernandes set to also remain as skipper, despite open criticism of his manager’s tactics following last weekend’s abject loss.
Chelsea takes on Manchester United on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Stamford Bridge in West London. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. GMT. That makes it an 8:30 a.m. ET or 5:30 a.m. PT start in the US and Canada and an 11:30 p.m. AEDT kickoff in Australia.
Today’s match at Stamford Bridge will be broadcast on USA Network, which you can access on Sling TV and other, more expensive streaming TV services such as YouTube TV or DirecTV MySports.
