Priced at ₹3 lakh and sold out! iPhone Duo pick-up slots vanish on day one in India

Apple’s foldable debut has had a very strong start in India. On the first day of pre-bookings, every store pick-up slot across the company’s six Indian retail stores was sold out. That’s for a phone that starts at ₹2,99,900, which makes it one of the most expensive smartphones you can buy here.

Online orders are still open, but patience is required. Delivery estimates have already slipped to the second half of January 2027, and some buyers are being quoted early February. For a phone most people haven’t touched yet, that’s a wait of several months.

The iPhone Duo comes in four storage options, and the price climbs steeply with each one:

It’s the most expensive iPhone Apple has made. The 2TB model is close to ₹4.5 lakh. For comparison, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900, so even the base Duo costs almost double that. In the US it starts at $1,999. There are bank offer on select cards, but that barely dents a price like this.

The Duo is a book-style foldable. It has a compact 5.4-inch display on the outside and a 7.6-inch folding screen inside. Apple says the inner display is 50% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s and 80% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro’s. It has a custom nano-texture layer that cuts glare and reflections, and is also meant to make the crease less visible.

The build is premium too. It has a titanium frame. It has Ceramic Shield on the back, Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, and an IP68 rating.
