Peak XV-Backed AI Startup Blacksmith Nets $66 Mn At A Unicorn Valuation

San Francisco-based AI code testing startup Blacksmith has raised $66 Mn in a Series C funding round led by Sequoia Capital, bringing its total funding raised till date to $125 Mn. Premji Invest and existing investors Peak XV Partners, Google Ventures, and Y Combinator also participated in the round.

The startup raised the fresh capital at an unicorn valuation of $1 Bn, doubling in just over two months. It was valued at $550 Mn when Peak XV led its $45 Mn Series B funding round in August.

In a statement, the startup shared plans to bolster its compute infrastructure and expand its technical engineering team. It says that it currently manages nearly 10 MW of compute footprint across data centers in the United States and Europe.

It shared plans to expand its total capacity by 5X in 2027 to meet growing enterprise demand.

“Even at the start of this year, we underestimated how much code people would be shipping. We expect that volume to only keep increasing as models get better and more engineers embrace AI codegen tools. We’re building Blacksmith to help developers merge code faster and feel confident about what they’re shipping,” Aditya Jayaprakash, Blacksmith’s cofounder and CEO, wrote in a post on LinkedIn.

Founded in 2024 by Jayaprakash, Aayush Shah and Aditya Maru, Blacksmith operates a specialised cloud platform designed for automatically building and testing software code. It claims to serve more than 10,000 corporate customers worldwide, including high-growth tech firms such as Mercury, Granola, Supabase, and LangChain.
