Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics has introduced a humanoid robot called the H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian. In a promotional video released on X, the robot is seen performing martial arts moves, physical stunts and simulated rescue operations.
Built on the company’s H2 platform, the robot is being presented for security, personal protection and rescue applications. In the video, the H2-X jumps onto a car, performs flips and delivers punches, kicks that leave visible dents on vehicle panels. It also jumps from a platform marked four metres high, lands and performs a series of acrobatic moves.
The video also shows the robot taking part in staged protection and rescue scenarios. In one scene, it steps between a woman and a person carrying a weapon. In another, it pushes a person away from an approaching car and lifts the front of a vehicle above a dummy positioned underneath it.
The footage, however, does not establish how these demonstrations would work in real-world emergencies. It is also unclear whether the robot performs the actions autonomously, through remote control or using pre-programmed sequences, according to The South China Morning Post.
One of the key claims made about the H2-X is that it can operate for approximately eight hours on a full charge. Unitree’s on-screen safety information, however, refers to this figure as standing time.
In its announcement on X, Unitree introduced the robot as the ‘H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian’ and described it as being designed to serve and guard users. The company also highlighted its approximate eight-hour endurance.
