Emerging out of stealth mode, robotics startup Origin has raised $20 Mn (around ₹189 Cr) in a funding round co-led by Accel and Zacua Ventures.
The round also saw participation from Unilazer Ventures, Schema Ventures and Z21. Angel investors from Anduril, Skild AI, 1X and Tesla also participated in the fundraise. As part of the investment, Zacua Ventures’ founding partner Vivin Hegde has also joined the startup’s board as a director.
The startup said that the fresh capital will primarily be utilised to deploy its flagship OG-1 robot and build a fleet of construction robots. A chunk of the capital will also be used to support “large-scale” pilots with customers in the US and Europe and explore new use cases for bots.
“We think of Origin as a time machine for construction, helping crews complete work faster while moving the industry toward autonomous job sites. Wall finishing and painting are only our starting trades; our ambition is to automate the full range of interior trades so contractors can build faster with consistent quality,” said Origin cofounder and CEO Yogesh Ghaturle.
Founded in 2025 by Ghaturle, Ashish Daga and Tushar Makkar, the US-headquartered startup develops autonomous robotics for construction work. It aims to address widespread labour shortages in the construction sector and claims that its robots can work 3X faster than a human.
Its flagship robot, OG-1, is currently capable of automatically completing wall-finishing tasks such as applying compound, sanding, and priming. The startup claims to have already deployed its robots at construction sites in New York, adding that its bots are also being deployed across commercial spaces, apartments, data centers, hotels and warehouses.
