OPPO has unveiled ColorOS 17, its Android 17-based operating system, with a redesigned interface, performance improvements and new artificial intelligence (AI) features. The update introduces tools for automating tasks, editing photos, organising files and detecting potential fraud.
ColorOS 17 will debut with the OPPO Find X10 series, scheduled for a global launch on October 21. The software will subsequently roll out to eligible OPPO smartphones in phases.
ColorOS 17 introduces Living Flow Design, combining translucent visuals, fluid animations and responsive controls. OPPO has also updated its rendering architecture to improve performance.
According to the company, rendering loads can decrease by up to 30% and rendering-related RAM usage by up to 25% in key scenarios. Compared with ColorOS 16, app launch stability improves by 55%, Gallery thumbnails load up to 50% faster on first launch, and more than 25% additional apps can remain active in the background.
AI Mind Pilot introduces Agent Mode, which can find, organise and rename files, sort photographs into albums and create travel itineraries, webpages and presentations using information stored on the device.
OPPO has worked with Manus to integrate agentic AI capabilities into ColorOS 17. Agent Mode will initially support Manus and ChatGPT. OPPO will provide a complimentary usage allowance, while existing subscribers can connect their accounts.
AI Photo Agent enables users to edit photographs using natural-language instructions or reference images. Its Style Match feature analyses a reference image's colours, tone and mood before applying a similar look. OPPO says its six imaging models help preserve the original image's character, including its ProXDR effect.
