Bengaluru-based NuSynth Technologies has recently raised ₹36.5 crore (around $4 million) in a seed funding round co-led by Avaana Capital and Shastra VC. The company plans to use the funds to develop proprietary chemical manufacturing processes and strengthen its research and development (R&D) capabilities.
NuSynth claims that it is building an AI-enabled platform to redesign chemical synthesis routes, with an initial focus on pharmaceuticals and electronics chemicals. It aims to develop processes that reduce manufacturing costs, improve yields and make commercial-scale production more efficient.
The funding will also support the company's initial portfolio of proprietary processes, scale-up capabilities and team expansion.
According to the company, India has expanded its chemical manufacturing capacity over the past two decades, but several critical molecules still depend on complex, multi-step synthesis routes.
These processes can involve high material and energy costs, imported intermediates and hazardous reagents, while creating challenges during commercial scale-up.
NuSynth aims to develop alternative routes by reassessing starting materials, reaction pathways and process economics rather than making incremental changes to existing methods. Its approach is designed to improve production efficiency, safety and sustainability.
The company's R&D process combines chemical process redesign with predictive synthesis models. It also considers raw material costs, manufacturability, safety and quality from the start of each development programme.
NuSynth's AI engine analyses experimental data and adds it to a proprietary knowledge base. The company aims to use this information to reduce trial and error, improve molecule selection and shorten the time required to develop and scale chemical processes.
