Open Channel: What’d You Think of ‘Street Fighter’?

Capcom’s Street Fighter franchise has always been popular, but it’s really taken off in the last couple of years. The success of Street Fighter 6 amongst the studio’s larger (and ongoing) hot streak paved the way for another movie. Sure, the games haven’t had much luck in live-action, but maybe this new one would break the trend?

Well…depending on who you ask, Street Fighter’s done that. At time of writing, reception’s generally split, with detractors pummeling the film for its narrative, some performances, and tonal issues. Conversely, others have found it fine enough and able to find more to like about it in spite of its issues. A stark contrast against September’s Resident Evil, but this movie’s also had something important: time. Since its marketing began last December, it’s had a longer window to get fans onboard and accept that it’d be good, bad, or bad in a fun way.

As we wait to hear how it’s done at the box office, we’d like to know Street Fighter thoughts. Was it as bad or good as you were expecting or told, do you want another? And, if you saw both, how does it stack up to Mortal Kombat II from May?
