Motorola Signature 27 unveiled: Motorola has a new flagship phone, and its a doozy

Not to be overshadowed by recent smartphone launches from Google, Samsung, and Apple, Motorola formally announced its own new flagship Thursday: the Signature 27. It's a flex of a phone that's jam-packed with premium features like a ridiculously bright screen, a 200MP periscope lens, and Bang & Olufsen speakers — and its $1,599 starting price reflects that.

The Signature 27 has a slab-style design with a sloped camera bump and a roomy 6.8-inch "Extreme AMOLED Duo" tandem display. (It stacks two OLED panels on top of one another, just like Apple does in its iPad Pro and new touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro.) With a rated peak brightness of 12,000 nits (not a typo), the Signature 27's display should be the brightest we've ever seen on a smartphone by far.

The Signature 27 will also probably be the longest-lasting smartphone we've encountered, too. It has a massive 7,000mAh battery, and Motorola rated it for up to 77 hours of use per charge. For comparison's sake, the new iPhone 18 Pro Max, the battery life champ among the best smartphones we've tested, has a 5,567mAh battery that lasts up to 45 hours.

Camera-wise, Motorola said the Signature 27 will have a 200MP Periscope Telephoto lens that can hit up to 100x zoom with its AI-powered "Super Zoom Pro" tool. There's also a 50MP wide lens, 50MP ultrawide lens, and 50MP front camera, which should make for some fabulous selfies. Notably, Motorola tacks on a dedicated EVS actor sensor that makes it easy to get shots of fast-moving subjects, which it describes as a first for a smartphone.
