Goodbye, GrubHub. Amazon Prime Has a New Meal Delivery Partner, Uber Eats

On Thursday, Amazon announced that US Prime members will get free delivery on Uber Eats orders made directly through Amazon’s app or website. And you’ll get $20 off the first two Uber Eats eligible orders of $25 or more for the first 14 days, plus Amazon-exclusive offers. If you have a Prime Visa credit card, you’ll earn 5% back on all Uber Eats orders until Dec. 5, 2026, with a Prime membership.

It’s another perk that may make Amazon Prime membership worthwhile, especially if you already use Uber Eats. But you may wonder what that means for the GrubHub partnership that both Amazon and GrubHub touted for years — dating back to 2022. Before now, your Prime subscription included a GrubHub Plus membership at no additional cost. GrubHub Plus included no delivery fees, lower service fees and 5% back on pickup orders.

The new partnership launch just so happens to be the same day that Lyft and DoorDash announced that they’re teaming up for a new subscription, Lyft Go. An Amazon spokesperson said in an email to CNET that the GrubHub and Amazon partnership ended on Thursday. There’s no telling how long Amazon will partner with Uber Eats.

“We continuously evaluate our third-party offers to ensure they provide the best possible value for Prime members,” the Amazon spokesperson said. “As part of that ongoing evaluation, we identified an opportunity to deliver an even better restaurant delivery experience.”

However, a GrubHub spokesperson said in an email to CNET that if you have a Prime membership and activated GrubHub Plus, you’ll have the membership until Dec.
