L&T Technology Services partners with Cognite to bring AI into industrial operations

The partnership will combine LTTS’ engineering expertise with Cognite’s AI and data tools to help industries use AI for predictive maintenance, digital twins and other day-to-day operations.

Larsen & Toubro subsidiary L&T Technology Services (LTTS) has partnered with Norweigian industrial artificial intelligence and data company Cognite to develop and deliver artificial intelligence (AI) and data solutions for asset-intensive industries, the companies said on Thursday (September 24). As part of the partnership, LTTS has established a Cognite Centre of Excellence, certified more than 50 engineers and begun co-developing industry-specific solutions for sectors including oil and gas, chemicals, liquefied natural gas (LNG), consumer packaged goods and fast-moving consumer goods (CPG/FMCG), mining and industrial manufacturing. The companies said the partnership will combine LTTS' engineering, manufacturing operations and asset lifecycle management capabilities with Cognite's industrial AI and data capabilities. The work will cover AI-powered industrial applications, digital twins, predictive maintenance and operational intelligence platforms.

LTTS and Cognite have already started their first joint project with a global top-10 oil and gas company. The project involves converting a manual mechanical-integrity process into a digital workflow that provides engineers with contextualised information and is intended to help identify risks and reduce downtime and safety events.
