Insta360 has launched its new wireless microphone, the Insta360 Mic, in global markets. Designed for content creators, it comes with a customisable E-Ink display, onboard audio recording and AI-powered noise cancellation.
The microphone also supports Bluetooth connectivity with select Insta360 cameras and is compatible with smartphones, DSLRs and mirrorless cameras through its receiver and included accessories. The Insta360 Mic sits between the company's entry-level Mic Air and flagship Mic Pro.
The Insta360 Mic features a customisable E-Ink display and also has a microSD card slot for onboard audio recording. With a memory card inserted, the transmitter can record 32-bit float audio as a backup to the audio captured by a connected camera or phone. For sound processing, the microphone comes with a dedicated AI chip that helps reduce background noise while limiting unwanted audio artefacts.
Users can choose between two automatic gain control modes. Auto mode helps prevent audio clipping, while Dynamic mode adjusts volume changes to maintain more consistent loudness. There are also three voice tone presets: Regular, Rich and Bright.
The Insta360 Mic supports Direct Connect, which allows the transmitter to pair with compatible Insta360 cameras over Bluetooth without a receiver. Supported models include the X6, X5, Luna Ultra, Luna Pro, GO Ultra and Ace Pro 2.
The X6 and Luna series can also connect to two Mic transmitters simultaneously, allowing two speakers to record directly to the camera. For other devices, the microphone can connect through its receiver.
According to the company, each transmitter provides up to 13 hours of battery life on a single charge.
