Google Wallet rolling out notifications feed, support for more digital passports

After the stacked card list redesign , Google Wallet for Android is gaining a notifications feed and support for more passports.

On the homepage, you’ll see a notification bell icon next to the profile switcher in the top-right corner. Tapping opens a feed with “updates about items in Wallet.”

Earlier this month, the company said it was introducing an “in-app message center in Google Wallet.” This new feature is still rolling out via a server-side update.

Meanwhile, Google Wallet is adding support for more digital passports. Officially referred to as an “ID pass” in the app, usage varies by country. US passports can be used at TSA security via NFC or QR code scanning.

Following Brazil, Singapore, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States of America, we’re starting to see the ability to add Ireland and Italy.

To add a passport, tap the ‘plus’ FAB at the bottom of Google Wallet > IDs & personal info > ID pass. The registration process involves scanning your passport info page and security chip. Afterward, you have to record a video of your face. You’ll get a notification once verification is complete.
