Google TV shows off its ‘new’ features in fullscreen roundup when you turn on your TV [Gallery]

Google TV is rolling out its latest feature roundup, showcasing new features and additions that have rolled out in recent months.

Next time you turn on your Google TV, you might be greeted with the October 2026 roundup of new feature additions. Google has been sending out these occasional fullscreen summaries for a while, with the latest showing up this week on Google TV Streamer and other devices.

We clocked the new Freeplay channels last month, with Google TV now offering over 300 built-in channels. The expansion of free on-demand movies and shows was announced in August and rolled out shortly after. Dynamic slideshows launched back in April, and Photo search even further back in January.

The new Watchlist location change arrived in a homescreen redesign back in November of last year.

All is to say, your guess is as good as ours as to why Google chose to showcase these features as “new” right now, when realistically there’s only one new addition in tow. It’s not the first time this has happened, with these roundups showing up a couple of times a year on Google TV Streamer and other devices, but it’s certainly something to see such a broad window of what’s considered “new.”
