Save $140 on a big-screen Windows laptop that doesn't compromise on memory or battery life.
Save $140 with Prime: With the global RAM shortage driving up prices, many laptop makers have added 8GB configurations to their budget models as a way to keep pricing in check. And while you can run Windows 11 reasonably well with just 8GB of memory, it puts a lid on media editing and multitasking. Because when your laptop is maxing out the RAM, it needs to access data from the slower storage drive, which can cause lags, freezes and other painful behaviors.
Budget Windows laptops like the Dell XPS 13 and HP OmniBook 5 each cost $700 with 8GB of RAM, and Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop with 8GB costs even more. That’s why the Asus VivoBook 16 with 16GB of RAM is such a good deal at its Prime Day sale price of $530. That’s $140 off its regular price.
In addition to 16GB of RAM, the Asus Zenbook 16 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor, integrated Qualcomm Adreno graphics and a 512GB solid-state drive. Getting that much storage is also a boon; many budget laptops supply only a 256GB SSD, which can fill up fast.
The Snapdragon X processor is a generation behind Qualcomm’s current Snapdragon X2 line , but this 8-core CPU should provide enough performance for general use. And laptops I’ve tested with this processor offer excellent battery life, including the current battery life king in the HP OmniBook 3 16 .
