Apple's first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, sold out its opening-day stock globally in 3 minutes after pre-orders opened on Friday, October 16, 2026. New orders are now delayed until January 25, 2027. The phone goes on sale on October 23, 2026.
Pre-orders opened at 8:00 AM ET on Apple's online store, carriers and major retailers. At 8:03 AM, the October 23 delivery window for base models sold out. By 8:10 AM, delivery dates at all major US carriers and Apple's online store had moved to late November.
At 8:30 AM, high-demand versions, such as the 512GB and 1TB models, slipped to January 25, 2027. By 12:00 PM, every colour and storage option on the US Apple Store showed late-January delivery.
Delays now cover all storage options, from 256GB to 2TB. Reports also indicate longer waits in India and other launch markets, and store-pickup availability is limited in some locations.
Many customers who opened Apple's online store on Friday morning saw delivery dates in November straight away. Within minutes, these moved to December and then to the end of January. An order placed now may not arrive before the end of 2026.
Apple said, “The pre-order demand for iPhone Duo, our first foldable iPhone, has been nothing short of extraordinary.” The company said it is working to get the phone to customers as quickly as possible and that “we will continue accepting orders online.”
It did not say whether stock will be available for people who missed pre-orders when sales begin on October 23.
