Android Auto’s latest Gemini failing keeps asking ‘who do you want to call’

The switch to Gemini on Android Auto has resulted in some good functionality add-ons, but also some very noticeable slip-ups. The latest in the bunch is a problem where Gemini won’t recognize names when you’re trying to make a call or send a text via voice commands on Android Auto.

A trending issue right now on Google’s forums , Android Auto users say that Gemini gets caught in a loop of asking who it is that you want to call or send a message to. You can say the name repeatedly, but Gemini fails to finish the command and just starts over.

The issue isn’t isolated to any particular phone or Android Auto build, as is often the case with Gemini bugs, and started showing up early in October , with more reports showing up recently . Some users also report issues with Android Auto automatically answering calls, but that’s much more isolated.

Google is constantly rolling out new updates for Android Auto and Gemini, so it’s likely only a matter of time until this one is fixed. If you’re running into this problem, let us know in the comments below.
