The platform ships a custom Shorts quiz, Starfall progress bars and BookTube creator content to mark the sixth ACOTAR novel. The playbook works for any IP with an existing fan base.
YouTube is supporting the release of A Court of Splintered Harmony, the sixth novel in Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Thorns and Roses series, with a publisher partnership that brings platform features normally reserved for major entertainment launches to a book campaign.
The activation, which appears to involve publisher Bloomsbury, includes a custom Shorts effect that reveals which Court a user belongs to, themed creator content, and a Starfall progress bar easter egg visible on ACOTAR-related videos.
BookTuber Haley Pham, who read the first five ACOTAR books in one week, features in an episode of YouTube's Channeling series, positioned as the face of the campaign for a community that has kept the series in discovery for years.
The move signals YouTube treating niche reading communities with the same activation toolkit it has deployed for K-pop fandoms, anime audiences and gaming launches, and it hands brands a live example of how to structure IP-led campaigns around participatory content rather than passive views.
YouTube built special experiences for the release, including new content from BookTube creators and a custom Shorts effect. The Shorts quiz is user-facing: open Shorts on mobile, search for the ACOTAR Quiz effect, answer questions, and receive a result showing which Court from the series the user belongs to.
