WhatsApp may expand payments to more countries on Android

WhatsApp is finally working on a new feature that will let users in more countries manage their payment methods. The new section will allow users to save their cards and shipping information to make purchases easier directly from the app. The update could indicate that WhatsApp is preparing to bring payments to more countries.

In the post about the WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.33.10.70 update, we announced that WhatsApp was developing a new Payments section. The feature would let users save their cards and billing details to complete purchases directly within the app. The country selector for the billing address includes countries beyond WhatsApp's current payment markets. For example, the country selector will let users choose Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United States. This may suggest that WhatsApp will expand payments to new regions. However, WhatsApp has not confirmed any plans to expand payments to more countries.

WhatsApp is now working on bringing the same feature to the Android app. This may suggest that WhatsApp is considering bringing payments to more countries on Android as well. We discovered this with the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.43.7 update, which is available on the Google Play Store. With this update, WhatsApp is developing a Payments section right within the app settings. This feature will allow users to save their card and manage their payment information.

When users open the new payments screen from the app settings, they will immediately see a button to add a payment method.
