Twitch's new clip-driven recaps place stream highlights in followers' mobile feeds after broadcasts end, fixing a structural problem: most communities never see sponsored segments live. The change shifts when and how brand content delivers value.
Twitch is introducing Stream Recaps, a feature that surfaces curated clips from streams at the top of followers' mobile feeds after broadcasts end, addressing what CEO Dan Clancy has described as a fundamental limitation of live streaming: "at any given moment of a stream, probably only 10 percent of your community is there".
For brands sponsoring Twitch creators, that means only around 15 percent of a streamer's community typically sees a sponsorship live. Stream Recaps changes that equation by making key moments persistent and discoverable beyond the live window.
After each stream, Twitch identifies top clips based on quality indicators and allows creators to post them to their Story, where they surface in viewers' Stories and Live feed on mobile. Recaps expire after 48 hours, and creators must post a minimum of one clip.
Top clips from followed channels appear at the front of the Stories shelf on the mobile app home screen, prioritised by channels viewers are most dedicated to, and users tap through each channel's compilation in chronological order. Recap clips also appear as cards in the Live tab, with one to four followed channels featured depending on how many have posted.
