SASHA SHOW had a great week on YouTube. The Turkey-based channel is the home of a kid-friendly creator who works pop culture characters into his videos. That was a winning formula during the second full week of October, when SASHA SHOW added 1.92 million new subscribers.
The two channels right behind SASHA SHOW in the Global Sub Top 50 have a lot in common. They both feature sweets in their videos, they’re both preoccupied with large numbers, and, of course, they’re both doing extremely well on YouTube right now.
After perusing this week’s Global Sub Top 50, I’m reminded of a classic Mitch Hedberg joke: “Rice is great if you’re really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something.”
Hedberg would thrive in today’s social media landscape, and not just because he knew how to deliver a short-form punchline. His rice joke is the perfect description of an odd YouTube trend. All over the platform, creators are assembling dishes that contain thousands of food items — and I’m not talking about rice.
Tade Vlogs is at the forefront of that trend. The #3 channel in this week’s Global Sub Top 50 created a novel foodstuff when he debuted the thousand-layer Oreo in a video that has already received more than 64 million views.
