TikTok's August Bangkok event spotlighted 300 creators from a region where livestream gifting and commerce-first content now generate billions. What Southeast Asia has professionalised over four years, Western platforms are only beginning to adopt.

TikTok's LIVE Community Fest 2026 in Bangkok, held under the theme "Be Part of the Win" in August, brought together more than 300 LIVE creators from Southeast Asia, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Awards were presented in Legend, Platinum and Gold categories, honouring creators who have turned daily livestreaming into structured income streams that rarely exist at similar scale in the UK or US.

The event placement matters. Southeast Asia (Philippines 115M, Indonesia 275M, Thailand 72M, Malaysia 34M, Singapore 6M) is the fastest-growing creator market globally. Globally, over 21,000 Creator Networks support approximately 4.7 million TikTok LIVE creators, with Southeast Asia accounting for roughly a quarter of these networks and one-third of network-affiliated creators worldwide.

This is not aspirational positioning. It is where TikTok's commerce model actually works at scale. Southeast Asia is now 71% of TikTok Shop's $64.3 billion global GMV, and TikTok Shop's GMV in the first half of 2026 grew to $34.7 billion, up 80% from $19.2 billion in the first half of 2025, with Southeast Asia remaining the platform's strongest growth engine, contributing approximately 70% of total platform sales.
