The digital business card reaches all members without a subscription gate, but the returning notes feature requires Premium Business or All-in-One, nearly a decade after LinkedIn removed it for being underused.
LinkedIn is rolling the digital business card out globally over the coming months, available to every member regardless of subscription tier. The cards pull a headshot and job role from a user's profile, add a scannable QR code, and offer multiple design layouts. Users can save the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for instant access at events.
LinkedIn showcased the feature at its Connection by Design event in New York, with the formal announcement landing on 15 October 2026.
The business card solves the offline connection problem LinkedIn first tried to address in 2018 with profile QR codes. That earlier feature launched in 2018, but offered no customisation or wallet storage. This version adds both, plus the ability to update the card whenever a user changes roles, fixing the obsolescence problem that killed the paper original.
For social media managers working events, the value is speed. Scan, connect, and move on. No typing names into search, no "is that one L or two", no business card box gathering dust. The card updates live as the profile changes, which matters when half your LinkedIn connections change jobs within 18 months of connecting.
