Zoom Embeds Clinical Notes Across Meetings, Phone, and In-Person Visits

Video communications and collaboration infrastructure leader Zoom announced at Zoomtopia 2026, the rollout of enhanced Zoom Clinical Notes, an ambient clinical documentation solution powered by Zoom AI designed to convert clinical encounters into structured medical notes across in-person, video, and telephone visits.

Directly addresses “point-solution fatigue” and workflow friction: unlike standalone third-party AI scribes that require separate app windows, separate logins, or complex audio rerouting, Clinical Notes is embedded natively into the core Zoom infrastructure across Zoom Meetings, Zoom Phone, and Zoom Contact Center.

Developer ecosystem and software development kits (SDKs): Available immediately to healthcare application developers via the Zoom Meeting SDK for web and a dedicated Clinical Notes API (Preview) supporting asynchronous audio file uploads for recorded encounter processing.

Integration support for the Zoom Video SDK is scheduled for commercial release later in 2026.

Zoom Clinical Notes bypasses the need for third-party application bridging by baking documentation capabilities directly into its communications runtime:

Omnichannel Ambient Capture: Accommodates in-person clinical encounters via desktop or mobile microphone input alongside telephone triage calls on Zoom Phone and virtual visits on Zoom Meetings and Contact Center queues.

Healthcare-Specific Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR): Leverages Zoom’s proprietary medical ASR model, calibrated specifically on medical nomenclature, clinical pharmacology, and diagnostic classifications, paired with federated large language model (LLM) orchestration to structure concise, clinician-ready documentation.

EHR Integration Rails: Facilitates note transfer into electronic health record (EHR) systems through open REST APIs, complemented by dedicated browser extensions for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge that paste structured clinical summaries directly into browser-based EHR charts.
